Pool Tile Cleaning

Tile Cleaning Specialty – We can make old tile look beautiful again. We are one of the premier tile cleaning companies in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

WHY IT HAPPENS:  Because we live in Southern California, coping with hard water is a way of life.  Our water supplies contain large amounts of calcium and lime, naturally dissolved in the water.  You have probably noticed when water dries, a mineral residue is left on dishes, glass and pool tile.  Evaporation is extreme, due to high temperatures, low humidity and windy conditions.  Each time water is added to the pool, the concentration of minerals increases as the volume of water stays the same.   Wind and swimmers agitate the water and cause it to splash on the tile.  Evaporation is rapid and a small amount of mineral sticks to the tile.  Eventually you notice a white residue on the tile.  Routine maintenance cannot prevent this build up.  The best solution is to drain the water from your pool every two to three years.  There are no chemicals that can lower the hardness or reduce the total dissolved solids in the water.  We regularly check the water in our customer’s pools in order to advise them when their pool should be drained and refilled.  When the scale line becomes obvious, the only practical solution to clean the tile is to use a process called GLASS BEADING or BEAD BLASTING.

The beads are smaller than grains of table sugar.  The beads are spheres of uniform size and hardness. They do not release free silica (dust) and contain no toxins.  No chemicals are used to remove build up.  Compressed air is used to power a spray gun and blast the residue right off the tile.  The beads are harder than the mineral’s deposits and softer than the tile.  We prefer to drain the pool completely; this removes the source of the problem.

Lowering the water level a few inches will allow the minerals to immediately begin building up again.  New beads are used on each job.  This is because the beads fracture, resulting in jagged edges.  Reusing beads can cause damage to pool tile.  PEBBLE-TEC or Brick, no problem, the process is the same.
